Pain-Free IPL facial Hair Removal
At SKINLAB, we’re dedicated to delivering advanced, comfortable, and effective hair removal treatments. We understand that unwanted facial hair can often be hormonally triggered - whether through menopause, perimenopause, PCOS, thyroid changes, or natural hormone fluctuations.
That’s why we use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, a non-invasive technology designed to target hair follicles safely and efficiently, providing long-lasting hair reduction with minimal discomfort. The IPL system uses controlled, pulsed light that penetrates the skin without harming its surface, ensuring a virtually pain-free experience.
-
Unlike traditional lasers that focus a single wavelength of light, IPL uses multiple wavelengths, providing a broad-spectrum treatment that can address various skin concerns along with hair removal. IPL is less intense than a laser, which allows it to penetrate the skin’s second layer (dermis) while sparing the surface layer, reducing potential skin damage.
Laser emits beams of light, that through the skin reach the target hair follicles. The pigment in the hair shaft absorbs the light. The light destroys the hair shaft and the hair follicle. For all skin types. For almost all hair types. Results in just 6-8 treatments.
Benefits of ipl Hair Removal
-
Our IPL hair removal technology is safe, precise, and effective, allowing us to treat even sensitive skin areas with confidence. The light energy targets only the hair follicle, leaving surrounding skin unaffected.
-
IPL therapy offers a reliable, cost-effective solution for permanent hair reduction, saving you time and effort compared to traditional hair removal methods.
-
By targeting the hair at its root, IPL significantly reduces the occurrence of ingrown hairs, especially beneficial for those with sensitive skin prone to irritation from shaving or waxing.
-
With IPL, there’s minimal downtime. You can resume your daily activities immediately, experiencing only slight redness or warmth that quickly subsides.
-
Temporary Effects
Most clients experience mild redness or a sunburn-like sensation that fades within a few hours post-treatment.Tolerability
Some clients feel a brief warm sensation or slight tingling, but the treatment is generally well-tolerated and comfortable. -

Hormonal Facial Hair
Facial hair growth in women is far more common than most people realise. It can appear gradually or quite suddenly, and it often coincides with hormonal changes. The medical term for this is hirsutism, which causes an increase in coarse or dark hair in areas where women typically have finer growth, such as the chin, jawline, and upper lip.
Hormonal hair growth is often linked to increased androgens (male hormones like testosterone) or heightened skin sensitivity to them. This can happen at any age, from your 20s through menopause, and may be influenced by conditions like PCOS or thyroid imbalance, genetics, stress, or medication.
At SKINLAB, our approach is understanding, discreet, and completely bespoke. Using pain-free IPL technology, we safely target hormonally triggered facial hair to restore smoothness, balance, and confidence in your skin.
-
Hormonal changes can happen at any stage of life, from puberty and your 20s, through perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. These fluctuations can sometimes increase the level or sensitivity of androgens (male hormones), leading to new or thicker facial hair in areas like the chin, upper lip, jawline, or cheeks.
This is completely normal, and in many cases, it’s your body’s way of responding to natural shifts in hormone balance. However, if facial hair affects your confidence or daily routine, gentle and effective IPL treatments can make a noticeable difference.

Frequently asked questions about laser facial Hair removal
-
Hormonal changes, stress, medication, or genetics can trigger increased androgen activity, which stimulates hair growth. It’s very common and completely manageable with treatment.
-
Yes! IPL is highly effective for hormonally triggered hair, including that caused by PCOS. It works by targeting hair follicles at their root, reducing regrowth over time.
-
As oestrogen levels drop, testosterone can have a greater influence, sometimes leading to new or thicker facial hair. IPL helps reduce this growth safely and effectively.
-
Absolutely. Our advanced system includes a built-in cooling device to ensure comfort and protection, making it ideal for sensitive and mature skin.
-
IPL works best on darker hairs, as the pigment attracts the light energy. We’ll assess your skin and hair during consultation to determine your suitability.
-
For your safety, we do not perform IPL treatments during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. We’ll be happy to arrange your consultation once it’s safe to begin treatment.
-
This depends on your specific treatment or medication. During consultation, we’ll review your medical history to ensure IPL is safe and appropriate for you.
-
Yes. By treating the follicle directly, IPL reduces ingrown hairs and irritation, leaving your skin smoother and less reactive.
explore the different types of Hormonal Conditions
-
As oestrogen levels decline during menopause, androgens can become more dominant, leading to fine or coarse hair around the chin, jawline, and upper lip. Our pain-free IPL treatments target these hairs at the root, helping you manage hormonal hair growth effectively and comfortably.
-
During perimenopause, hormone levels fluctuate significantly, sometimes triggering new or increased facial hair growth. SKINLAB’s gentle IPL treatments can help restore balance by reducing regrowth and leaving your skin looking and feeling smoother.
-
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common causes of hormonally triggered facial hair. Elevated androgen levels can stimulate hair follicles, making hair thicker or darker. Our IPL treatments are tailored to each client, helping to manage PCOS-related facial hair safely and effectively while improving skin texture and confidence.
-
Thyroid hormones play a vital role in regulating hair growth. When these hormones fluctuate, you may notice subtle changes in facial hair. SKINLAB’s advanced IPL technology provides a gentle and precise solution that complements your body’s natural balance.
-
It’s not only menopause or PCOS that can affect hair growth. Many women in their 20s and 30s experience hormonal hair changes due to stress, contraceptives, or natural fluctuations. Our treatments help reduce unwanted hair safely, restoring your confidence and keeping your skin smooth and radiant at every stage of life.
-
Hirsutism is the medical term for excessive or coarse hair growth in women, often caused by hormonal imbalance or increased androgen sensitivity. It can be genetic, age-related, or linked to conditions like PCOS. At SKINLAB, we take a compassionate, professional approach — helping you manage hirsutism safely with gentle, effective, and pain-free laser technology.
