Judy Murray and Morpheus 8: Discover the Benefits of Radiofrequency Microneedling

What was all the fuss about Judy Murray?

Two years ago, there was a media frenzy surrounding Judy Murray and her Morpheus 8 before & after pictures . So what is Morpheus 8?

Morpheus 8 is a brand of Fractional Radiofrequency Microneedling a treatment designed to achieve skin tightening, firming, contouring and lifting.

Radiofrequency Microneedling is a minimally invasive technology that involves tiny little needles penetrating the skin at a chosen depth dependent on the skin concern we are treating.

With results like Judy Murray’s, we knew that we had to offer this treatment to our clients here at the clinic and set out to research the available devices and determine which was going to be the best choice.

After months of research, and because of its outstanding reputation and safety profile, we chose Lynton’s Medical CE certified Focus Dual Fractional Radiofrequency and HIFU machine. With a range of machines including lasers, and as a preferred supplier to the NHS, Lynton's expertise and commitment to excellence make them the ideal choice for our clinic.

How does Radiofrequency microneedling work?

Ultra fine needles penetrate the skin to different depths dependent on the area being treated. Once the needles are inserted, radiofrequency energy (heat) is delivered into the skin in a controlled manner which stimulates a wound healing response leading to the production of new collagen and elastin.

This treatment can be used on all ages but is particularly useful on older patients with skin laxity concerns. Younger patients may benefit more from microneedling without the radiofrequency, and for that we have SkinPen Precision, one of the best, and multi award winning microneedling devices on the market.

aftercare & maintenance

The beauty of this gold standard skin rejuvenating procedure is the high safety profile and minimal downtime. Immediately after the treatment you will look quite red and you will feel ‘sunburnt’. However, within a few hours this subsides considerably and providing you follow strict aftercare advice, the healing process should be very straight forward.

The number of treatments required will vary from person to person. However, a minimum of 2 and up to 6 treatments, at 4-weekly intervals, deliver the best results. Most patients see an improvement 2 to 3 weeks after the first treatment, however, they do get better over time, peaking at 12 weeks following the final treatment. The longevity with radiofrequency microneedling is very good and therefore maintenance is recommended as one session every six months following the initial course.

treatment results

To finish on an important note, and one we always cover at consultation at SKINLAB, is that one mode of treatment alone rarely achieves results such as Judy Murray’s. It is always a combination approach with skincare being the most important. Judy Murray had a skincare treatment protocol from Obagi Medical called Nu-Derm, a protocol also offered at SKINLAB. This protocol uses the gold standard Hydroquinone, in addition to an exfoliator, vitamin C and a prescription strength retinol to transform the skin. The Nu-Derm kit is what is responsible for the lightening, brightening, and lifting of pigmentation on Judy’s skin.

If you want to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, shrink large pores and improve uneven skin tone and texture, tighten lax skin on the face, neck, chest, hands and body, smooth acne and surgical scars or reduce stretch marks then our Focus Dual machine can help.
