profhilo

A skin remodelling treatment that is different to dermal filler

Profhilo contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid that is exceptionally pure due to the manufacturing process not involving chemical crosslinking like it does for dermal fillers.

Hyaluronic acid is well known for its hydrating and volumising actions, amongst other beneficial effects on the skin.

Profhilo is injected into the skin in a specific pattern, depending on which area of the body is being treated. Two treatments are required four weeks apart. Occasionally a third treatment will be recommended, this is dependent on your skin quality on assessment.

Results aren’t usually seen until 6-8 weeks post first treatment.

Its main uses are to treat skin laxity and to improve skin quality. Common treatment areas include:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Decolletage
  • Hands
  • Upper arms
  • Above knees

You can expect an overall improvement in skin hydration, radiance, smoothness and firmness.

Longevity varies from person to person, but results are expected to last approximately 6 months. If you choose to not have the treatment performed again, your skin will return to its pre-treatment condition.

A full consultation, including medical history, will be taken prior to treatment being administered. Treatment with hyaluronic acid is safe, but not risk free, therefore potential risks of treatment will be discussed, as will alternative treatment options.

Treatment is not recommended if you are suffering with a skin infection at the site of where treatment would be injected, if you have a cold sore, if you are unwell, if you are taking certain medications, if you are pregnant of breast feeding, or if you have completed a course of Roacutane (acne treatment) in the last 18 months.

Treatment Preparation

All make up will be removed prior to treatment, where possible please arrive at clinic make up free. For 24 hours prior to treatment, avoid alcohol, asprin, ibuprofen, St John’s Wort, fish oils, Gingko Biloba and vitamins C & E as they can contribute towards bruising.

The injections sting briefly, but on the whole this passes quickly. Following treatment you will notice raised area’s where the Profhilo has been injected. These usually go down in 6-24hrs. There have been reports that this has lasted 2-3 days for some patients.

Full aftercare instructions will be given to you on leaving clinic.
